What this page covers
Key takeaways
- Zid’s pitch is fewer contracts: its own payment gateway, its own shipping service and its own marketplace in one place.
- The subscription is yours: SAR 99 a month on Launch, SAR 299 on Growth, which adds custom CSS and tax settings.
- Zid Pay has no setup or monthly fee; transaction rates vary by card network and plan and are not published as one number.
- Payouts settle on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays once the balance reaches SAR 100.
- Zid now builds themes on Vitrin; older Twig themes are described as deprecated and will need rebuilding.
- If you plan to sell beyond Saudi Arabia, Zid lists six markets, which is a genuine advantage over a single-market setup.
What is on this page
Why merchants choose Zid
Zid’s pitch is simple: more of the operation in one place. Alongside the store itself it runs its own payment gateway, Zid Pay, its own shipping service, Zid Ship, and its own marketplace, Mazeed, where your products can reach shoppers who have never heard of your brand. For a merchant who does not want to sign separate contracts with a gateway, several couriers and a marketplace, that matters more than any single design feature.
Zid also looks beyond Saudi Arabia. It lists the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Egypt among its markets, and Zid Pay can accept payment in more than one currency. If your plan is to start in Riyadh and grow across the Gulf, that path is built in.
What Zid does not do for you is make the store look and read like a brand. Most Zid stores launch on a lightly edited theme with product data copied from a supplier. That is the part we take on — working inside your own Zid account, so the store, the customers and the subscription always stay yours.
What we set up on Zid
Branded theme
Your Zid theme customised to your identity: colours, typography, homepage sections, collections and product pages. From the Growth plan we add custom CSS, and for brands that need something fully bespoke we build a custom theme on Zid’s Vitrin framework.
Zid Pay
Mada, Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay through Zid Pay, with Tabby or Tamara added where instalments help your conversion. We walk you through activation and test every method with a real order.
Zid Ship
Shipping through Zid Ship, which connects carriers such as SMSA, Aramex, Saudi Post (SPL), J&T and DHL under one contract, with zones, rates, free-shipping rules and cash on delivery set around your margins.
Mazeed and sales channels
Your catalogue prepared for Mazeed, Zid’s marketplace, and connected to the other channels Zid supports, such as Amazon, Trendyol and Jahez, where they fit what you sell.
Arabic and English catalogue
Product names, options, descriptions and categories written the way Gulf shoppers search, in natural Arabic and clear English, with specifications customers need before they buy.
Tracking and e-invoicing
Google Merchant Center, Analytics, the TikTok and Snapchat pixels and Meta connected and verified, and ZATCA Fatoora e-invoicing integrated if you are VAT-registered.
Zid plans at a glance
You subscribe to Zid directly; the subscription is not part of our fee. These are the plans Zid publishes (checked September 2026 — plans and offers change, so confirm on zid.sa before subscribing).
| Plan | Price | Key points | Our view |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Free | Unlimited products; bank transfer and cash on delivery only; no custom domain; 1 team member | Good for testing products, not for a brand launch |
| Launch | SAR 99 / month | Custom domain, advanced payment methods, chat support; 1 team member | The right start for most new stores |
| Growth | SAR 299 / month | Invoice and tax settings, custom CSS; 5 team members | Choose it for deeper design control or a team |
| Professional | On request | Up to 20 team members | For established brands with larger teams |
Zid Pay itself has no setup or monthly fee; transaction fees vary by card network and plan, and Zid does not publish a single rate, so check your offer when you activate. Payouts are settled on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays once your balance reaches SAR 100.
Zid plans, visually
The same plans as the table above, in the shape that makes the decision obvious: the jump that matters is Launch to Growth, and it buys design control and a team.
Most stores we build start on Launch. The move to Growth usually comes when a second person joins the store, or when the brand outgrows what the theme settings alone can express.
Zid Pay: fees, payouts and what to check
Zid Pay is the part merchants ask about most, because it is where the money physically moves. The facts, as Zid publishes them:
- No setup fee and no monthly fee for the gateway itself.
- Transaction fees vary by card network and by your plan. Zid does not publish a single rate, so confirm yours in writing when you activate.
- Refunds carry no extra fee.
- Payouts settle on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, once your balance reaches SAR 100.
- Each deposit costs SAR 3, except into Al Rajhi accounts.
- Supported methods include Mada, Visa, Mastercard and Apple Pay, and it can be combined with Tabby and Tamara for instalments.
Two practical implications. First, the three-times-a-week payout rhythm matters for cash flow if you are buying stock weekly — plan around it rather than discovering it in month one. Second, because the rates are negotiated rather than published, ask for them before you commit, and ask again if your volume grows. You can read the current details in Zid’s own help centre.
Zid Ship and delivery
Zid Ship connects several carriers under one contract, which is the practical appeal: one agreement, one label flow, one support channel rather than separate accounts with each courier. The carriers named in Zid’s help centre include SMSA, Aramex, Saudi Post (SPL), J&T and DHL, and the exact list available to your store depends on your account and your city.
What we configure during a build: delivery zones that match how you actually ship, rates that protect your margin rather than a flat number copied from a competitor, free-shipping thresholds set above your average basket so they raise it rather than eroding it, and cash on delivery where it makes sense for your product. Cash on delivery is still expected by a meaningful share of Saudi buyers, and the honest trade-off is a higher rate of refused deliveries — which is why we pair it with order confirmation rather than switching it on blindly.
One caution worth stating: carrier counts and prices change, and both Zid’s marketing pages and its help centre have quoted different numbers at different times. We configure what is actually available in your account on the day, rather than what a landing page claimed last quarter.
Mazeed and the other sales channels
Mazeed is Zid’s own marketplace, and it changes the arithmetic of a new store. A new store has no audience: you are buying every visitor through advertising until search and word of mouth catch up. A marketplace listing puts your products in front of shoppers who are already browsing, which is a different and cheaper kind of demand.
Beyond Mazeed, Zid supports selling through channels such as Amazon, Trendyol and Jahez, depending on what you sell. Whether those are worth the operational overhead depends entirely on your category and margin — a food business and a furniture brand should answer that question differently.
Our default advice for a new merchant: launch the store properly, list on Mazeed, and treat other marketplaces as a later decision once you know your unit economics. Running four channels badly is worse than running one well, and every extra channel adds stock, pricing and support work that someone has to own.
How an order moves through Zid
The reason merchants pick Zid is visible in the middle of this chain: payment, shipping and settlement belong to one provider.
The trade-off is the mirror image: you are dependent on one provider for three critical steps. If their gateway has a bad day, so does your checkout. For most merchants that is an acceptable trade for the simplicity, but it is worth making the decision knowingly.
Moving an older Zid theme to Vitrin
Zid now builds its themes on Vitrin, a Jinja-based framework with its own command-line tools, and its developer documentation describes the older Twig-based themes as deprecated. If your store runs on a custom theme that a freelancer built a few years ago, it will need rebuilding on Vitrin at some point.
We can audit your current theme, tell you what will and will not carry over, and rebuild it on Vitrin without changing your product URLs, so customers, bookmarks and search rankings are not disrupted. It is also a good moment to fix the things that have annoyed you about the old design.
Documents Zid asks for
You can register and build a Zid store for free, so design work can start while documents are prepared. To activate Zid Pay and sell on Mazeed, Zid asks for:
- Individuals: national ID, a freelance document (وثيقة العمل الحر) and bank details
- Companies: commercial registration, a signature authorisation, and the IDs of the partners and managers
- A bank account in the same name as the store's legal owner
- VAT registration once taxable sales pass SAR 375,000 in 12 months (voluntary from SAR 187,500)
Older guides often mention Maroof. E-store authentication moved to the Saudi Business Center’s Business Platform in 2023, and we point you to the current steps during setup.
The Zid store package
One clear package for most merchants, with larger jobs quoted in writing before any work starts.

Zid and Salla, side by side
Both platforms start at the same price, so the decision is about what surrounds the store rather than what it costs to open. Checked September 2026 — both change their offerings, so verify before subscribing.
| Zid | Salla | |
|---|---|---|
| Payment gateway | Zid Pay, built in; no setup or monthly fee | Salla supports multiple gateways and wallets |
| Shipping | Zid Ship: several carriers under one contract | Salla shipping labels across many carriers |
| Marketplace | Mazeed, included | No first-party marketplace |
| Markets | Six listed, including the UAE, Kuwait and Egypt | Saudi Arabia and the UAE |
| App ecosystem | 400+ apps | 550+ apps |
| Design freedom | Custom CSS from Growth; custom Vitrin themes | Custom CSS and JavaScript on Pro; custom Twilight themes |
| Entry paid plan | SAR 99 / month | SAR 99 / month |
In practice the choice comes down to two questions: do you want logistics and payments handled by the platform, and do you intend to sell outside Saudi Arabia? Two yeses point at Zid. A focus on the Saudi market with the widest choice of apps and community points at Salla.
Is Zid the right platform for you?
We build on Zid, Salla and Shopify, so our advice is not tied to one of them.
Choose Zid if…
You want payments, shipping and a marketplace from one provider, you plan to sell across the Gulf, or you value Zid’s own logistics over assembling couriers yourself.
Choose Salla if…
You sell mainly in Saudi Arabia and want the largest local app ecosystem and community. See our Salla store design service.
Choose Shopify if…
You sell internationally or through a UAE company and want the widest choice of apps and themes. Shopify Payments is not available in Saudi Arabia, so Saudi stores need a third-party gateway.

Selling beyond Saudi Arabia
Zid lists Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Egypt among its markets, and Zid Pay can accept payment in more than one currency. For a merchant whose ambition runs past the Saudi border, that is a real advantage over a setup that assumes one country.
Crossing a border is not only a currency setting, though. It changes shipping economics, customs paperwork, return logistics, the language of your product content and often the pricing itself. What we set up during a build is the foundation: currencies, shipping zones and content structure that will not need rebuilding when you expand. What we advise against is launching in six markets at once — it multiplies the operational load before you know which market actually wants your product.
If cross-border selling is the plan from day one, tell us at the brief stage. It changes how we structure the catalogue and the content, and retrofitting that later is more work than doing it once.
“Running four sales channels badly is worse than running one well. Every extra channel is stock, pricing and support that someone has to own.”

Zid questions
How much does Zid store design cost?
Our Zid store setup starts from SAR 5,500 and includes a theme customised to your brand, up to 50 products in Arabic and English, Zid Pay, Zid Ship and tracking configured, and staff training. Custom Vitrin themes and migrations are quoted separately.
Is the Zid subscription included?
No. You subscribe to Zid directly so the store stays in your name. Zid’s paid plans start at SAR 99 a month (checked September 2026).
Which Zid plan do I need?
Launch suits most new stores because it adds your own domain and advanced payment methods. Growth adds custom CSS, tax settings and five team members.
What does Zid Pay cost?
Zid Pay has no setup or monthly fee. Transaction fees vary by card network and plan and are not published as a single rate, so confirm your rates when you activate it.
When do I receive my money from Zid Pay?
Zid settles payouts on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays once the balance reaches SAR 100. Transfers to banks other than Al Rajhi carry a SAR 3 fee per deposit.
Which couriers does Zid Ship use?
Zid Ship connects several carriers under one contract, including SMSA, Aramex, Saudi Post (SPL), J&T and DHL. The exact list changes, so we confirm the options available to your store during setup.
Can I sell outside Saudi Arabia on Zid?
Yes. Zid lists the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Egypt among its markets, and Zid Pay can accept payments in more than one currency.
My store uses an old Zid theme. Does it need to change?
Zid now builds themes on Vitrin and describes older Twig themes as deprecated. We can audit your theme and rebuild it on Vitrin while keeping your product URLs.
Can you move my store from Salla to Zid, or the reverse?
Yes. We migrate products, categories and customers, set up redirects where the platforms allow, and test before switching your domain.
How long does a Zid store take?
Most Zid stores launch in two to four weeks, depending on how quickly product information and documents are ready.
When do I actually receive my money from Zid Pay?
Payouts settle on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays once your balance reaches SAR 100. Each deposit carries a SAR 3 fee except into Al Rajhi accounts. Plan your stock purchasing around that rhythm.
Should I list on Mazeed as well as running my own store?
For most new merchants, yes. A new store has no audience of its own, and a marketplace listing reaches shoppers who are already browsing. Treat other marketplaces as a later decision.
Can I sell to the UAE and Kuwait from a Zid store?
Zid lists six markets including the UAE, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain and Egypt, and Zid Pay supports more than one currency. The harder parts are shipping, returns and content, which we structure during the build.
What happens to my old Twig theme?
Zid describes Twig-based themes as deprecated in favour of Vitrin. We can audit yours, tell you what carries over, and rebuild it on Vitrin while keeping your product URLs.
Do I need the Growth plan?
Only if you need custom CSS, invoice and tax settings, or more than one team member. Many stores launch on Launch and upgrade when the design or the team requires it.
